/ / Update Archives \ \

Latest Update: December 13, 2010

The review to Part 3 of "Crisis of Infinite Darkwings" (Darkwing Duck Issue 6) is up in the articles section! Also, Flapping Terror finally has a Twitter account. Yay! Be sure to follow @flappingterror today! I'll be posting every time I update the site, so keep your eyes peeled.

I am the terror that tweets in the night! Wait, didn't I already use that? Oh well... *~Melissa~*

November 16, 2010

I have updated with a review of Darkwing Duck #6! And it's a pretty positive one, too. Check it out in the articles section (as always!).

I am the terror who should be focusing more on the site and less on Megamind! *~Melissa~*

November 13, 2010

Just a tiny update this time. Our new mascot, Darkwing III, has hatched and is already over Level 20. She'll enjoy any berry you give her, as she has no specific preference. Getting her to Level 100 should be easy this time around! Also, can you believe this is the third female mascot we've had in a row?! Wow!

I am the terror that loves her Pokémon! *~Melissa~*

November 9, 2010

Hey, guys! I hope you enjoyed your Halloween!

Special news: tomorrow, the entire first story arc of the Darkwing comic will be released in paperback: DARKWING DUCK: THE DUCK KNIGHT RETURNS VOL.1 looks like it will be available for $15, but you can get a special deal for it on Amazon.com. Check it out! By the way, this book not only features the entire first story arc, it also has a cover gallery, original sketches by James Silvani, and the story behind Darkwing's creation as told by Tad Stones himself.

Interested in what's going on in the heads of the Darkwing comic's creative team? Check out this interview with Ian Brill, James Silvani, and Tad Stones here on YouTube. It was held at Long Beach Comic Con!

Also, it appears that the final issue of the second story arc (Crisis of Infinite Darkwings) will be released in January 2011. Keep an eye out, Darkwingites!

Oh, one last thing: I'm thinking of getting a Twitter account just for this site. Keep an eye out for that, too.

I am the terror that actually updated just in time! Go me! *~Melissa~*

October 30, 2010

Guys, I apologize for another late update... in fact, this is REALLY late! I got a couple of e-mails from the BOOM! Studios press list: the entire Darkwing comic creative team is at Long Beach Comic Con today! They're at Booth #112, and will be there at 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM! Now, when I say the entire team, I mean the following people:

TV Series Creator Tad Stones
Comic Series Writer Ian Brill
Cover & Interior Artist James Silvani
Alternate Cover Artist Amy Mebberson
Editor Christopher Burns

The con started yesterday and will end tomorrow. Hopefully you can still get there! (MAN, I am really sorry, you guys! I've been super distracted and tired...) While you're there, you can get an exclusive Get-A-Sketch comic cover, which means one of the cover artists will draw a unique sketch just for you on an issue of the Darkwing Duck comic (the cover is blank).

Again, my apologies, guys. I'll be much faster next time.

Oh, and P.S.: That annoying scrolling bar at the top of the site's pages are FINALLY gone! Yee-haw! Thank you, Tripod! It's about flipping time!

P.P.S.: Darkwing II, our mascot, has reached Level 100! So we're moving on to a new Murkrow egg! Get ready for Darkwing III!

I am the terror that procrastinates way too much! *~Melissa~*

October 24, 2010

The review for Issue #5 is now up in the articles section! I apologize for it coming so late, you guys. I've been rather scatterbrained lately. I'm also seriously thinking of revamping that particular section of the site. Yeesh, the site in general needs a revamp! Still working on converting every page to black-text-on-white-background, need to make site graphics... ugh, it's hanging over my head much like the sword of Damocles.

I am the terror that feels like somebody's gonna be cutting the thread... *~Melissa~*

October 20, 2010

Issue #5 of the comic - the first issue of the second story arc - is now available in your local shop! Have at it, Darkwingites! A review will be up either later today or sometime tomorrow.

Also coming soon: a brief report on my meeting Ian Brill and James Silvani at New York Comic Con, which will be up in the articles section!

I am the terror that geeks in the night! *~Melissa~*

October 5, 2010

I'm a bit late in getting this news out, but better late than never! BOOM! Studios has a booth at New York Comic Con, which takes place from Friday (October 8) to Sunday (October 10). Find them at Booth #2135. Ian Brill and James Silvani will be doing signings on the following days and times:

Friday, October 8: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Saturday, October 9: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM / 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Sunday, October 10: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM / 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Mr. Brill and Mr. Silvani will not be the only ones attending the con, however-- I will also be there, on Friday and Sunday! I'll be visiting the BOOM! Studios booth as well as the Halolz booth (#2869), and I'll either be wearing a Darkwing Duck shirt or a Super Mario Bros. shirt (Fire Mario, to be precise). I may also be wearing bracelets (green, black, and blue), and a Pokémon hat. Be on the lookout for me, and be sure to say hi! ;)

I am the terror that nerds it up in the night! *~Melissa~*

September 30, 2010

The review for the fourth issue of the Darkwing Duck comic is finally up in the Saint Canard Tribune. Sorry for the delay!

I am the terror that's feeling a lot better now, actually. *~Melissa~*

September 23, 2010

The fourth issue of the Darkwing Duck comic came out yesterday. As I am still under the weather, it will be a while until I write an official review. Until then, I can tell you that this new issue is very good and that it will really, really surprise you! Later, Darkwingites!

I am the terror that sneezes in the night. ACHOO! *~Melissa~*

September 18, 2010

I just wanted to apologize for not updating as of late. I've been having personal issues, plus I have been a bit under the weather lately. Regular updates will return shortly, and I intend on making my future updates even better.

I also meant to mention that I updated the Fan Bios and Theories of the Fan Section with one theory by Ricardo Mendoza, a regular viewer of Flapping Terror. I must personally thank him for all his contributions, and will post more of them as soon as I feel better.

No outtro this time. *~Melissa~*

August 26, 2010

This following press release from BOOM! Studios came out yesterday:

"August 25, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - BOOM Kids! is proud to announce that DARKWING DUCK #2 has sold out, sending everyone's favorite masked mallard into 2nd printing. This follows on the heels of the announcement that DARKWING DUCK #1 sold out and went to reprint earlier this month.

"BOOM!'s latest smash hit has received tremendous fan support with sales of DARKWING DUCK #3 surpassing the sales of issue #1.

"The in-store date for DARKWING DUCK #1 2nd print is September 1st with DARKWING DUCK #2 2nd print hitting store shelves on September 15th. DARKWING DUCK #4 is scheduled to ship on September 22nd.

"Fans should keep in mind, while Diamond Comic Distributors is completely sold out, first printings of DARKWING DUCK #2 may still be found at a direct market retailer near you.

"Copies of DARKWING DUCK #2 are available for retailers to order immediately from Diamond Comic with the second printing already featured in an issue of Previews Plus. Copies are also available to order immediately through BOOM!'s relationship with Haven Distributors.

"DARKWING DUCK #2 second print features an action packed wrap-around cover variant by James Silvani."

Got all that, Darkwingites? Then make some space on your shelves in the name of Darkwing Duck!

I am the terror that quotes in the night! *~Melissa~*

August 20, 2010

Our new mascot, the Murkrow egg, hatched today! Not only that, but she's already been evolved into a Honchkrow! Yup, it's another girl. Please welcome our new mascot, Darkwing II! She likes sour berries - the pear-shaped ones - so feed her and help her grow, please!

I am the terror that... really shouldn't have watched that video about Gigyas while posting this update. o_o; *~Melissa~*

August 18, 2010

I hope you all grabbed your copies of Darkwing Duck #3 today! For those of you who did, I hope you enjoyed the big reveal at the end! I know I did!

In other news, Darkwing the Honchkrow (our mascot) finally reached Level 100! Thanks, everyone! Darkwing will now be going into retirement, and a new Murkrow egg will be taking her place. Be sure to help warm the egg! Will it be a boy this time? Or will we get another girl? We'll just have to wait and see.

I am the terror that hatches in the night! *~Melissa~*

August 16, 2010

The articles section has been updated with a review of the third issue of the comic, which is coming out in two days! Check it out!

I'm also in the middle of making over the site. So far, so good. At the rate I'm going, I should be done by October. I'm also updating the Secret Pages! Bet you haven't heard about them in a long while! I'm also trying to add more of them to the site. A Flashquack update will appear when I'm done.

Finally, thanks to you viewers out there, our site mascot, Darkwing the Honchkrow, is currently at Level 95! Amazing! Just five more levels until she gets to Level 100! When that happens, we'll be getting a new Murkrow egg to take her place. That's right! Every time our current mascot reaches Level 100, a new mascot will take its place. We'll let you know when it's time for the next Darkwing to appear. Ciao for now!

EDIT: Cleaned up a bit in the links section. Will be cleaning it up a bit more later.

I am the terror that HOLY CRAP THERE'S SO MANY PAGES TO CHANGE. *~Melissa~*

August 13, 2010

This piece of news is very late: ten days old! Yikes! My apologies, you guys! Anyway, it turns out that the first and second issues of the Darkwing comic are getting second printings due to the series' success! Check out the details here!

Also: I'm going to be changing the look of Flapping Terror as time goes on. Nothing major, just some graphics changes and whatnot. Besides, white text on a black background is getting old, don't you think?

I am the terror that updates way too early in the morning! *~Melissa~*

August 2, 2010

The Saint Canard Tribune has been updated with a review of the Darkwing comic's second issue! Check it out! Also, I may end up doing reviews faster in the near future, but I'm not promising anything. I'll let you guys know what the deal is later.

I am the terror that is full of hate and wires! *~Melissa~*

July 31, 2010

Yesterday, Newsarama.Com put out this exclusive preview of Issue #3 of the Darkwing Duck comic, and it features Negaduck! And boy, does he ever know how to make an entrance...

I am the terror that needs to update more! *~Melissa

July 22, 2010

You can thank Negaverse.Net for this update! The second story arc for the Darkwing comic - coming after the fourth issue of "The Duck Knight Returns" - has been announced! It's called "Crisis of Infinite Darkwings," and it answers the question of what might happen if Saint Canard had too many Darkwing Ducks! Much to my surprise and delight (and to the rest of you, I'm sure!), Darkwarrior Duck from the TV episode "Time and Punishment" makes a return! Pre-order the issue here!

Here's an official summary of Issue #5 of the Darkwing Duck comic, found here:

DARKWING DUCK #5
(W) Ian Brill (A) James Silvani
Now An Ongoing Series! Following the events of The Duck Knight Returns, Darkwing Duck is once again protecting the streets of St. Canard. However, his greatest enemy is determined to finish the job he started in dismantling Drake Mallard's life and Darkwing's reputation — and he's brought a DuckTales villain along for the mayhem! (C: 1-0-0)
32pgs, FC SRP: $3.99

Oh yeah, and the Issue #2 came out yesterday! Go get it now!

I am the terror that needs to tear herself away from "Despicable Me" for five seconds! *~Melissa~*

July 9, 2010

The second issue of "The Duck Knight Returns" is coming out this month on the 21st. Reapeating: the release date for the second issue is July 21, 2010. By now, the fourth issue of "The Duck Knight" is available for pre-order, and so is the third, last I checked.

Also, BOOM! Studios will be at Comic Con in San Diego, CA. They'll be answering questions about the Darkwing comic, plus more! They will also be selling the first issue of the comic with an exclusive cover! I wish I could be there!

I am the terror that can never afford to go to conventions. Phooey. *~Melissa~*

July 1, 2010

I finally posted my (spoiler-free!) review of the first issue of "The Duck Knight Returns"! Check it out in our articles section, the Saint Canard Tribune!

I am the terror that actually gets things done around here! *~Melissa~*

June 29, 2010

What's this? I've updated something on the actual site?! Madness! Check out the Saint Canard Tribune, our articles section, for something from one of our viewers, Kacy S.

In Darkwing comic news, if you're up for seeing a preview of issue #2 of "The Duck Knight Returns," check out this exclusive from Comic Book Resources! Also, I have received my copy of the first issue and will be reviewing it soon. I've been tired as of late, so please bear with me until then. I also have other updates to accomplish, so keep an eye out.

I am the terror that-- wow, it's hot in here. *turns up the air conditioner* *~Melissa~*

June 16, 2010

The first issue of "The Duck Knight Returns" is out today! Go out there and get it! Expect a review from me soon! If you have a Twitter account, use the tag #DarkwingDuckDay and spread the word about the comic! I have!

I am the terror who uses too many exclamation points! *~Melissa~*

June 9, 2010

I evolved Darkwing the Murkrow (our mascot) into a Honchkrow! Keep clicking her and feeding her small red berries! At the moment, she is at Level 7. Just 93 levels to go until she's fully-grown!

I am the terror that krows in the night! *~Melissa~*

June 5, 2010

Okay, so apparently I had the date wrong yesterday. TODAY is the fifth. So I've corrected the previous update. Right. So, anyways... first off, I'd like to thank those of you who helped the website mascot, the Murkrow egg, to hatch! It is now a healthy female Murkrow, and I've named her Darkwing. If you click on her daily, you can feed her berries and help her level up. The highest level she can reach is Level 100. Simply click her, choose a berry to feed her, and you're done. (Note: she likes the small red berries best.)

In more important news, I just wanted to provide you all with some Twitter links:

James Silvani, the artist for the Darkwing comic!
Ian Brill, the writer and editor for the comic!
And finally, BOOM! Studios, the comic's publisher!

I am the terror that... noms on berries? I dunno. *~Melissa~*

June 4, 2010

Not sure why I didn't do this before, but I added links to Negaverse.Net, The Old Haunt forum, and the Negaduck fanlisting, Public Enemy #1, to the Links section. (The latter two are part of Negaverse.Net.) Check it out now!

Also, if you attend HeroesCon in Charlotte, North Carolina (at the Charlotte Convention Center), the first three people to sing the entire Darkwing Duck theme song at a BOOM! Studios booth (#514, 516 and 613) or BOOM Kids! booth (
#414, 513 and 515) will get on the list for a free, signed copy of the first issue of "The Duck Knight Returns." The convention started today, and will end in two days, so hurry up and get there! (Sorry I didn't know about this sooner!) The doors open at 11:00 AM EST. Look for Shannon, who will keep track of the winners. She'll be wearing a shark shirt, according to Darkwing's Twitter.

And, last but not least, the release date for the first issue of "The Duck Knight Returns" has apparently been changed to June 16th!! (I'll get it in time for my birthday!)

I am the terror who needs to keep better track of DWD-related news... *~Melissa~*

May 27, 2010

Here's the cover featuring Negaduck! And man, is it ever creepy.

I am the terror that... seriously, that cover is disturbing me. *~Melissa~*

May 26, 2010

Check out this tweet TheRealDarkwing made today:

"What is this? I just opened up the latest issue of PREVIEWS, out today, and see Negaduck [...] on the cover of MY comic book! Oh it's on!"

I can't wait to see Negaduck gracing the cover of a DWD issue! This is gonna rock!

I am the terror that gets negative! *~Melissa~*

May 24, 2010

Just an update to let you guys in on something nifty. If you subscribe to Netflix, the site that lets you order DVDs online for rent, you can rent Volumes 1 and 2 of the Darkwing Duck DVD collection! Cool, eh? Check out the site itself for info on renting from Netflix. Being a customer myself, I'll tell you that you won't regret it. Their library of DVDs is massive! For those of you who enjoy Disney Afternoon cartoons in general, you can also rent DuckTales, Gummi Bears, Goof Troop, Rescue Rangers, and TaleSpin.

I am the terror that rents in the night! *~Melissa~*

May 22, 2010

Check out the front page! We have a new website mascot, a Murkrow egg! What's a Murkrow, you ask? It's a Pokémon, and this egg is in need of warming. Click it, and you'll be led to Global PokédeX Plus. Then warm the egg with a click of the button, and then you're done! Once the egg hatches, we'll have a cool Murkrow for a mascot! Start clicking, peeps!

I am the terror who wants to be the very best, like no one ever was... *~Melissa~*

May 20, 2010

Sweet cuppin' cakes! MAJOR NEWS BULLETIN! Because of the amazing response to the upcoming "The Duck Knight Returns," BOOM! Studios has decided to make a comic a regular monthly series instead of just a mini-series! In other words, we'll be getting more issues after the initial story arc! AWESOMESAUCE! Read all about it RIGHT HERE!

Also, check out these two interviews with BOOM! Studios writer Ian Brill.

I am the terror that OMG THIS IS AWESOME YES YES YES DO WANT!!! *~Melissa~*

May 11, 2010

On the website Inside the Magic, a podcast interview was conducted with Ian Brill, one of the writers for "The Duck Knight Returns"... and it turns out Negaduck is going to be in the comic! Woo-hoo! He also reveals a bunch of other details about the comic. Check it out here! The podcast also contains an interview with one of the artists doing a cover for one of the issues.

I am the most fiendish terror that flaps in the darkest night! *~Melissa~*

May 3, 2010

You can now pre-order the second issue of "The Duck Knight Returns"! Click here! Keep in mind that there's a lot of other Disney news in the podcast, so be patient.

You may have noticed that there is now an annoying scrolling bar that appears at the top of the screen, no thanks to Tripod. This may mean I have to start looking for a new server. Before I do anything rash, however, I'll figure out some sort of alternative. And no, using a pop-up blocker doesn't work. Believe me, I've tried. Sorry, guys.

I am the terror that's really starting to hate Tripod now. *~Melissa~*

April 27, 2010

BOOM! Studios has released a five-page preview of the first issue of "The Duck Knight Returns"! Click here to see it at Newsarama.Com! Personally, I think it's looking great so far! I just wish they'd add some blue in the eyes of the duck characters. It's kinda annoying when their eyes blend in with their feathers. Other than that, not bad at all! Also, the fifth page made me laugh; you'll see why.

I am the terror that reads in the night! Or late afternoon, as the case may be... *~Melissa~*

April 24, 2010

Just thought I'd post a link to James Silvani's blog: click here. Not sure why I didn't do so sooner. Check out his occasional Darkwing sketch, as well as his work for the Muppets comic book series.

I am the terror who posts nothing but links these days and should really cut that out. *~Melissa~*

April 23, 2010

Website Newsarama.Com scored an interview with James Silvani, the artist for "The Duck Knight Returns"! Click here! Among other things, here we find out that Quackerjack just may be a bit darker in this story than he was on the show. Says Silvani:

"If the TV show's Quackerjack was a Cesar Romero, [writer Ian Brill's] Quackerjack is definitely a Heath Ledger. Except without all the scars and knives and stuff."

Ooh, spooky! If any of you were scared of Quackerjack before, you might wanna watch out. Personally, I'm psyched. Also, Silvani confirms that Launchpad is indeed going to be in the story. Yay!

I am the terror who wants to know how you got those scars... *~Melissa~*

April 19, 2010

Just a note to let you guys know that I've pre-ordered the first issue of "The Duck Knight Returns," and when I receive it in the mail I intend to review it here on the site. Same goes for the paperback compilation when I pre-order that. Watch out for the first review in July!

I am the terror who's super-psyched! *~Melissa~*

April 17, 2010

BOOM! Studios, the guys making the upcoming comic book mini-series, will - in addition to publishing separate issues - be publishing a paperback compilation of the series, available on December 7, 2010. You can pre-order your copy now at Amazon.com right here. The product description reveals this synopsis:

"Darkwing Duck returns! The streets of St. Canard are crime-free, patrolled by Quackwerks new robotic Arrestoids. It's been a year and a half since Darkwing Duck has been seen. What ever happened to the Terror That Flaps In The Night? And when Quackerjack decides to "put the old band back together," will Drake Mallard answer the call of justice?"

You know what they say, peeps-- never leave everything to robots, or something is bound to go wrong. Okay, maybe they don't say that, but they should! And Quackerjack stirring up trouble? Awesomesauce! I can't wait! Also, check out this sweeeeet preview: CLICKY HERE NAOW, if only for the character sketches from production. (Look out for Gosalyn in a schoolgirl outfit!)

P.S. It has come to my attention that something gets screwy with the site if you block the ads. Please disable your ad-blockers for this site for now until I figure out what to do about this. Sorry for the inconvenience.

P.P.S. Thanks to Negaverse.Net for all these links. Good thing I decided to visit it today. I'll be more on the ball about finding this stuff myself from now on.

I am the terror that is getting that book for Christmas for sure! - *~Melissa~*
